Meeting with councillors

We are pleased to report that we had a constructive meeting yesterday with County Councillor’s Sue Woodward & Helen Fisher. We discussed protection of the Green Belt around Burntwood, development ideas for Sankey’s Corner, easy access to Chasewater, responsibility for parks, opening of the railway line between Brownhills and Lichfield as a walkway/cycleway and health care provision.

Hi there, I hope you are well. I am wondering if someone could contact me as I am keen to help out. My wife showed me a post the other day regarding the potential opening of the old railway line between Lichfield and Burntwood. I live in Sandfield and regularly walk the stretch of the railway between the pump station and up to the vets and have often thought of the potential benefits it could bring. If someone could contact me if love to find out more and see of I can help in anyway.

Hi, thank you for your email and apologies for the delay in our reply. We are currently seeking the help of Lichfield District Council to obtain a licence from Railtrack to begin work on the stretch of track that you mention. Once we have this licence we will be only too pleased to contact you and seek any help you can give us. We have recently had discussions with the volunteers who are working at the pumping station and were hoping to open up this line as a ‘joint venture’. They have now left it to us to seek a licence as I believe they have issues with Persimmon who own the PS building. Keep watching our website or our Facebook page for updates and we will definitely be in touch at the appropriate time. Kind regards, David Rathband.
