About us
We are a group of concerned residents who have come together to help fight against proposed development on Green Belt land. Many residents may not be aware of the New Local Development Framework. The “Preferred Option” of Lichfield District Council’s Core Strategy proposes the building of 750 new homes on green belt land on the south and south east edges of Burntwood. This development to be in addition to 220 new homes in infill brownfield sites.
Of the 4 options which we understand to have been considered prior to choosing the Preferred Option, the one which proposed a new settlement on mainly brownfield land near Fradley we consider a much more worthy option. It would not require the destruction of green belt land either in Burntwood or Lichfield.
Recently we also became aware of an application to build 377 houses on 16.4ha of farm land fronting Lichfield Road and Farewell Lane, Burntwood. You can see the area which would be affected in the images below, or click here to look at the area with Google Maps.
Farewell Lane is the definitive eastern boundary of Burntwood and we see no reason why this should be breached. Any consideration by Lichfield District Council of the late proposal by the local landowner to build 377 new homes to the east of that boundary would be both premature and prejudicial to the Core Strategy.

I have lived in Burntwood for over thirty years and have witnessed the steady erosion of green belt land around the town during that time. The time has come to say “NO” to further developments if we wish to see our character as a fairly small friendly town retained. Furthermore, should anyone wish to live in Burntwood there are literally hundreds of houses already on the market, who is going to buy these proposed new houses?

I live in burntwood and the amount of housing that required it is good to see developments to expand the town to bring in more people to help the local shops and amenities benifit from the additional income, life is about expansion, its about giving our local businesses more income and about making burntwood a bigger and better place to live
